Exploring Sahara desert in Merzouga

DAY 1:MARRAKECH - KASBAH AIT BENHADDOU -OUARZAZATE - DADES VALLEY:

We will take you up at 8:00 a.m. in Marrakech and take you to Ouarzazate across the High Atlas Mountains' Tizi n'Tichka pass (2260 m). Berber communities will enchant you with their scenery and charm. The Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, Morocco's largest Kasbah and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will be our first stop (this famous kasbah was used as a backdrop for more than 20 film). We'll stop for lunch at the Kasbah before continuing on to Dades Valley through Ouarzazate, Africa's Hollywood. We'll travel down the Thousand Kasbahs Road before arriving in Kalaat M'Gouna. It is well-known for its roses and its annual rose festival, which takes place in May. We stayed in a modest riad/guest home with dinner and breakfast in the midst of the Dades Gorges.

DAY 2:DADES VALLEY - TODGHA GORGES - MERZOUGA AND CAMEL TREK:

After breakfast in the riad, we’ll drive through the valley to see rock formation “the monkey toes”. Leaving the Dades Valley towards Tinghir and the Todgha valley we’ll see panoramic views of the old mud Berber villages overlooking the valley. Arriving at the Gorges you’ll walk under the 300 m high red cliff, where many Rock-climbers come to enjoy their preferred sport. Continuing on to Erfoud and Rissani where we’ll have lunch and afterwards, we’ll leave for the village of Merzouga, where your camel will be waiting you. You’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea and a desert scarf before your camel-ride starts heading into the mysterious sand-sea of the Erg-Chebbi, guided by an experienced camel guide of course. After one hour and half you will get to the highest sand dunes in morocco to see one of the best sunsets in your life after that you well get to our nomadic Berber tents where you will have dinner, camp fire, drum party and over night stay in the desert.

DAY 3:MERZOUGA DESERT -ZIZ VALLEY - CEDAR FOREST - FES:

In Merzouga, we will be treated to a spectacular desert sunrise today. Return to Merzouga settlement on camelback. Your camel guide will wake you up early in the morning to watch the sunrise, following which you will slowly camel-trek back to Merzouga, appreciating the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes, which change with the light throughout the day. We'll then travel to Ouarzazate through Agdz and the Draa Valley. The Tizi n'Tichka mountain pass is our route to Marrakech. Arriving back in Merzouga and after breakfast and hot shower in the guesthouse, we’ll leaveto Fes via Errachidia along the magnificent Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock, and through the Tizi Ntalghamt pass to Midelt, stopping in Zaida to enjoy a barbecue and refresh with a glass of mint tea before continuing to Azrou, a Berber village in the Middle Atlas Mountains, where we’ll stop to see the Barbarian apes in the cedar forest. Then we continue to Ifrane called the French village or the Switzerland of morocco , stopping for a picture or a drink before arriving at your accommodation in Fes where you will have dinner and breakfast.

DAY 4: EXPLORING FES IN THE MORNING THEN DRIVE TO CHEFCHAOUEN

You'll have the entire morning to explore Fes. After seeing the main attractions of the oldest city, you will eat lunch in a Medina restaurant and then drive north, arriving in Chefchaouen after a few hours.
